John Richard Starnes

John Richard Starnes, 88, of Plainfield, passed away June 5, 2014. He was born February 6, 1926 in Owen County, IN to the late Dewey and Ruby Starnes. He was a WW II Navy veteran. John retired from GM Truck and Bus after 42 years as a die spotter. After retirement he worked for Adessa Car Auction for 15 years. He was a member of Plainfield Eagles Lodge # 3207 and Danville American Legion. Funeral services will be Monday, June 9, at 10:30 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Sunday, June 8, from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Lola Starnes; children, Rose Ann (Ken) Woodard, Linda (Steve) Garrett, Randy Starnes and Janice (Stan) Bassett; sister, Patty Blair; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Misty Eyes Animal Shelter.
