Dorothy J. Appleby, 82, of Plainfield, passed away September 5, 2016. She was born January 26, 1934 in Bonita Springs, FL to the late John and Mable (Patrick) Downing. Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Pat and Sandra Appleby; sister, Evelyn Downing. Funeral services will be Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, in the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Appleby; son, Danny (Liz) Appleby; daughter, Susan Appleby; grandchildren, Mindy (Brett) Sullivan and Ken (Leslie) Appleby; great grandchildren, Reagan Sullivan and Daisy Appleby.
