It is with great sadness that the children of Barbara Anne Martin announce her passing on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the age of 81.

Barbara was born March 18, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late William Raymond Martin and Catherine Caroline Duffecy Martin. She graduated from Washington High School, Indianapolis in 1964 and spent most of her adult life in Plainfield, Indiana. For the past two years, Barbara was lovingly cared for by the staff at Hickory Creek at Sunset Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Greencastle, Indiana.

Barbara was a proud and loving mother and grandmother whose family remained an important part of her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and valued the occasions they were able to share together.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Theresa Marchiando of Plainfield, Indiana; Eva Meunier of Bright, Indiana; and Harley R. Zimmerman of Terre Haute, Indiana; her grandchildren, Shelia Harris, Ashley Harris, Allen McCoy, Caroline Meunier, Benjamin Meunier, Harley D. Zimmerman, Nathan Zimmerman, and Spencer Zimmerman; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rita (John) Kennedy and Diana White; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, John McCoy; her sister, Eileen Johnston; and her son-in-law, Jason Meunier.

Barbara’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Hickory Creek at Sunset Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the compassionate care they provided to their mother over the past two years. The family is also grateful to the staff of Affinity Hospice for the care, comfort, and support they provided to Barbara and her family throughout the past year.

A private Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated for Barbara on Monday, October 12, 2026, followed by a graveside service and interment in the family plot at historic Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.


In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to the Jason Meunier Memorial Scholarship through the East Central High School Band Boosters.
