Betty Lou Cummings

Betty Lou Cummings, age 83, formerly of Plainfield, passed away on August 13, 2026. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Barkley Acton and Mary Francis (Long) Acton. She worked as an assistant store manager for Life and Light Christian bookstore for many years before retiring. Betty married Jerry Cummings and had a joyous union until his passing in 2019. She was an active member of the Gasburg Baptist Church for many years. Betty lived her life to the fullest by loving and serving her family and others, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow to Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her daughters, Jenny (Stu) and Lorie (Shawn); 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 4 grandchildren, Jake (Suzanne), Shannon, Seth and Caleb (Madison); 7 great grandchildren.
