Betty R. McClure

March 2, 1928 — June 17, 2020

Betty Rose Roeder McClure past peacefully at the home of her daughter, Wednesday, June 17, 2020. With her husband, Morris “Jake” Eugene McClure of 74 years and three daughters of her six children by her side, she was comforted until her passing.
Betty was born the third of four children March 2, 1928 to Roy and Ada Roeder in Payne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bonnie Johnson, Carol Brown and her brother Don Roeder.
Growing up during the depression she knew the value of not wasting anything. She was a very modest woman with a robust spirit and sense of humor. She met Jake during high school in Decatur, IN where they fell in love and married on May 26, 1946. They had three sons and three daughters by the time “Jake” finished his medical school training.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker but most importantly she was kind, generous, giving, caring and thoughtful. Betty always put others needs before her own. She never interfered or judged others lives but if asked she was always there to give advice and opinions even if it was deemed good or bad.
They moved from Sebring, Florida back to Plainfield, Indiana in 2017 to be closer to their children. Her family will be forever grateful for the loving care she received by her “second family” at Cumberland Trace.
She is survived by her husband Jake, and will continue to live through her sons Thomas(Jayne), Timothy (Kathie), Dennis (Anna), and her daughters Elizabeth Bowen, Barbara McClure-Allen (Steve), Theresa Ford (Gary), eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
