Carol "Sue" Stegemoller

January 26, 1937 — April 25, 2019

(Carol) “Sue” Stegemoller  January 26, 1937 to April 25, 2019. Family and friends of Sue will never forget the beautiful blue eyes and her bright smile that she brought to our lives.  Sue entered heaven with her girls by her side after a long battle with leukemia.  Family was the center of Sue’s universe.  She molded the lives of her daughters, Gina (Anthony) Marsiglio and Lisa Goodin (Mark, preceded Sue in death).  The joy of Sue’s life was her grandchildren, Jonathon George, Sara (Jeremy Fisher) George, Kortney Koers and Kylie (Bryan) Coatney and her great grandchildren, Ryley Leach, Dawson George, Addilynn Coatney and Bodhi Fisher.  Sue, and her sister Jeannie Woolsey, were born to Ralph Smith and Virginia (Robinson) Smith, who have preceded her in death. Sue was a member of the Speedway High School, Class of ‘55; this may be where her love for racing came from.  Sue attended every race for 40 years straight.  Sue was not only an avid fan of Indy Car, but also a loyal fan for the Pacers, Colts and IU Basketball.  Sue raised her girls and enjoyed being a farmer’s wife to John in Avon and Danville.  Later in life she moved to Plainfield. Sue was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  Her activities involved many organizations through her life including Homemakers Club, Hendricks County Snowmobile Club, Hendricks County Antique Tractor Club, Hendricks County Arts Council, and Eastern Star.  She was retired from Wishard Hospital. A passion for the musical arts was evident as Sue’s favorite evenings were spent at the theatre and symphonies.  Stories of Sue’s travels were endless. She felt blessed to be able to see so much of God’s creation in so many parts of the world.  Sue will be remembered for her deep love and compassion for everyone in her life.  She valued people over anything else.  Her strength, deep faith, and joy for life continued to show throughout her illness.  She will forever be an inspiration to all those who knew her.  Sue’s legacy is one of unfailing love and deep devotion to her family. Family and friends will gather at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1st.  Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 pm followed with an Eastern Star Ceremony and a Celebration of Life at 6:00 pm.  Burial will be in the chapel of the West Ridge Cemetery on Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 am.
