Carol Elaine (Rivers) Wesseler, age 70, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She was a lifelong resident of Plainfield, Indiana and had recently relocated to Tennessee to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Carol is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom, her daughters Audrey Reese (John), Megan Maynard (Aaron), Emily Roberts (Branton), and five grandchildren, as well as sisters Connie Fisher, Gail Moreland (Max) and brother Scott Rivers (Dianna). Carol had a passion for learning and teaching. She graduated with a B.S. in Education from Ball State University in 1974 and earned her Master’s degree from DePauw University in 1978. Carol started her career teaching 2nd grade in the Avon School system. She left the classroom for a short time to stay home and raise her three daughters, then started a preschool at Plainfield Christian Church and worked as an aide in the Plainfield School system. She also taught at Mill Creek West Elementary School for several years before coming back to Van Buren Elementary to work as an aide until her retirement in 2018. Carol loved the outdoors. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, crafts, and travel, as well as participating in VBS programs and singing in the Plainfield Christian Church choir, where she was a member. She was devoted to her family. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her unfailing example of Christ’s love and faithfulness. A gathering of family and friends for Carol will be on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Road) with the visitation starting at 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm . Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
