Charles L. Acton

Charles L. Acton, 88, of Plainfield, passed away January 1, 2024.  He was born December 25, 1935 to the late Charles H. and Elizabeth (Smith) Acton.  He was an US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He worked and retired as a test mechanic from GM Allison's Transmission.  Charles is survived by a son, Scott M. Acton; three daughters, Leigh A. (Ray) Shelton, Kelly S. Spradling and Jody L. (David) Cohen; three brothers, Roger (Deby), Hilton and Jeff Acton; a sister, Linda Petersen; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie S. Acton; a grandson, Shawn Acton, and a sister, Fern Mohler.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm.  Burial with military honors will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
