Claralene Schlehuser

Claralene Schlehuser, 88, of Plainfield, passed away on June 4, 2025. She was born on September 13, 1936 to the late James T. Lunsford and Clora M. Ratts Lunsford. Claralene married Donald W. Schlehuser on April 16, 1955. They had just celebrated their 70th wedding Anniversary. She was a cub scout leader and enjoyed playing golf with the ladies at the Plainfield Elks Ladies Golf League. Claralene didn't miss a beat spending time with her friends by country line dancing once a week. She was an avid bass fisherwoman, spending many moments fishing with Don. Her precious moments were spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Claralene volunteered at the Plainfield United Methodist Church for many years, later becoming a member at the Plainfield Christian Church. She and Don were part of the Vines and Branches Sunday School Class. Claralene worked as a tour guide for 10 years at the Indiana State House. She was a proud member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, where she was also a past National President. The women in this organization meant the world to her and they will always be in her heart. Claralene and Don were fortunate enough to take many trips and vacations. The trip that meant the most to her was the journey to Israel, seeing where Jesus walked was life changing. If you gave Claralene a gift, she kept it forever and displayed it in her home. She said "it always reminded her of the wonderful friends she had." If you were lucky enough to have one of her brownie bites, they were a delicacy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 P.M., where friends and family may visit from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. Burial will follow to Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Donald Schlehuser; son, Bruce (Patty) Schlehuser; daughter, Donna (Christopher) Brickey; grandchildren, Zach Brickey, Hannah (Matt) Brandenstein and Adam Schlehuser.
