Dennis "Denny" Racer

April 22, 1960 — April 22, 2022

Dennis “Denny” Edward Racer passed away at his home in Dallas, Texas on April 22, 2022.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 22, 1960 to Nancy (Syester) and Edward Racer.  He graduated from Avon High School in 1978 in Avon, Indiana.  Denny was a hard worker starting his working career at Avon C & E Drugstore, then Monty’s in Avon as a grocery stocker and later in the meat department.  He then trained as an optician working at Lenscrafters in Indianapolis and in the Fort Myers, Florida area.  But the majority of his career was as a new home sales consultant or community sales manager.  He acquired his real estate license and after working for several other builders, spent the majority of his career selling new homes for MI Homes in Indianapolis and Grand Homes and Gehan Homes in the Dallas area.  He won many awards for outstanding performance in sales, several salesperson of the month or quarter that he proudly displayed in his office of his model homes.  He won the confidence of his clients and many asked him to help coordinate their selections at the design center.  He also made friends and kept in touch with many of his clients, some repeat sales clients, after the sale.

Denny loved to travel with friends going on trips to Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, Italy and Monaco to name just a few.  He enjoyed fine dining and fine cars, especially his BMW. Denny loved watching reruns of I Love Lucy, the Golden Girls and was also a Judge Judy fan. He was a people person and enjoyed serving with friends in his community helping seniors and others in need.  He was a fun loving guy with a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time with friends and family.  Denny was an animal lover, especially Zoey, his cat. Zoey brought him a lot of comfort and companionship.  Denny will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.  His life on this earth was too short. Our memories of him and our faith will get us through.

Denny was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Ed” Racer. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Racer of Avon, IN, sisters, Cindy (Gary) Thompson of Greenfield, IN and Debbie (Stover) Smith of Bloomington, IN, niece, Allison (Courtney) Bailey of Lubbock, TX and nephews, Jason (Amy) Thompson of Xenia, OH, Matt (Jamie) Thompson of Indianapolis, IN, Chris (Angie) Thompson of Brownsburg, IN and Adam Smith of Dallas, TX as well as nine great- nieces/nephews, many special friends and his beloved cat, Zoey.
