Dolores M. Fors

Dolores Mae Fors, 91, Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. She was born March 18, 1931, in Stratford, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Kauer) Hartl.  On May 24, 1952, she married Jack Frederick Fors. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2018.  Dolores graduated from Stratford High School in 1949. An amazing woman, she literally worked until the age of 89, and lived completely independently until June of this year, when she received a cancer diagnosis. She absolutely adored working, and worked for many years in the Lazarus and J. C. Penney drapery departments, as a window treatment specialist. Her latest position was at Costco, where she worked doing demonstrations. She made friends of her neighbors, colleagues and customers, and genuinely loved people. She also was passionate about animals, and loved her dog, Molly and the many cats she had taken in. She also took care of multiple feral cats in her neighborhood for years, and was a supporter of many rescue organizations. She traveled the world with her husband, and they especially loved London, Hawaii, and taking cruises. She made every holiday special, was an amazing baker and gardener, and was always there in anyone’s time of need. Her loss will leave a deep and lasting void in her family. She was a devout Catholic, and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Indianapolis.  Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Hadley; son-in-law, Marty Hadley; grandchildren, Blake (Olivia) and Brennan Hadley;  great-grandchildren, Landon, Bentley, and Liam; sister-in-law, Delores Hartl; and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and beloved husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Treml, Anna Ellenbecker, Maggie Van Ryzin, Betty Grendzinski, and one brother, Michael Hartl.  Visitation will be at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw Street, Plainfield, IN, on Saturday, August 27th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service immediately following, at 7:00 p.m.  Graveside Catholic Burial Service: Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, IN, on Monday, August 29th, at 1:00 p.m.
