Donald Schlehuser passed away on June 14, 2025. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on September 8, 1932 to the late Oscar and Reah Schlehuser. In 1951 he enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed in Japan, Wyoming, and Texas. On April 16, 1955 he married Claralene Lunsford Schlehuser. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. After the service Don graduated from Indiana University with an accounting degree. They then moved to Plainfield, Indiana where he started working for Public Service Indiana that later became Duke Energy. Don started as a staff accountant and later became comptroller and an officer of the company. Don retired in 1990 which gave him the opportunity to travel, fish, hunt and spend time with his family. Don refereed church basketball leagues, coached little league baseball and Upward girls basketball. Don was a member of the Isaac Walton League, Plainfield Jaycees and Toastmasters. Don had many achievements. He was an outstanding bait caster. Winning 1st in the State and National competition. Went on to win 3rd in the world competition. Don was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church where he taught 8th grade Sunday School Class in the 1970’s. He later became a member of Plainfield Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Claralene Schlehuser. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include son Bruce (Patty) Schlehuser, daughter Donna (Christopher) Brickey, Grandchildren, Zach Brickey, Hannah (Matt) Brandenstein and Adam Schlehuser
