Doreen J. Ping

Doreen J. Ping, 86, of Plainfield, passed away June 24, 2018 at Avon Village.  She was born August 8, 1931 to the late Sam and Flossie Smith in Indianapolis.  Doreen was a 1949 graduate of George Washington High School, Indianapolis.  She served various duties with the Indiana Legislature from 1972 to 1990.  Doreen was a loving mother and a dedicated homemaker.  She was married to Sam Ping, who survives, for 67 years. They loved to travel and visited all 50 states during their vacations together.  Their favorite travel destination was the Colorado Mountains.  Besides her husband, Sam, Doreen is survived by three children, Curtis (Karen) Ping, Karen (Jay) Brown and Jenifer Ping; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Forrest Smith.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 27, in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A graveside gathering will follow the visitation in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
