Dr. Barbara L. Hannaford

November 9, 1958 — July 7, 2020

Dr. Barbara L. Hannaford, 61, of Plainfield, passed away July 7, 2020.  She was born November 9, 1958 to the late Henry and Margaret (Hart) Pannell in San Diego, CA.  She received her BA degree from Indiana State University and her Masters and Doctorate degree from Valdosta State University.  Her teaching career began at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN.  She continued teaching when she moved to Georgia, and during her 27 year career she was promoted to an administrative position and finally to Director of Curriculum Instruction until she retired in 2019.  She moved back to Indiana to be close to her grandchildren and volunteered at various elementary schools in Plainfield.  During this time she also taught online college course studies for Valdosta State University.  She will be fondly remembered for her service and dedication to education.  Barbara is survived by her son, Mike B. (Jamie) Tucker; two daughters, Maggie E. Tucker and Ashley M. (Michael) Hughes; a sister, Nancy (Garry) Miller. father and mother-in-law, J.O. and Jackie Hannaford; 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Lilly, Cain, Graham, Grayson, and Nolan; and 2 nieces, Cara and Laura.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Hannaford.  Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 5:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Due to social distancing seating will be limited for the service.  Memorial services will be planned for later in Folkston, GA.  Online condolences may be sent to www.hamptongentry.com
