Edward A. Morton, 76, of Avon, passed away December 17, 2018. He was born September 10, 1942 to the late Van E. and Marie (Baker) Morton in Hammond, IN. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Purdue University. He was active in boy scouts and was a Life Scout and was also a Scoutmaster. He was a member of the Crown Point Masonic Lodge #157 and the First Baptist Church of Plainfield where he served as deacon and held other positions including in the audio-visual department. He retired as manager of the TIRKS department for Indiana Bell/Ameritech in 1992 after over 30 years of service. Ed is survived by his wife, Linda K. (Gatlin) Morton; three sons, David A. (Amy), Tom E., and Edward A. (Shannon) Morton; a daughter, Deanna L (Mark) Moore; 4 grandchildren, Adam (Karissa) Frank, Courtney Morton, Rachel Moore, and Samantha Moore; and 3 great grandchildren, Luke, Grace and Jaxson Szelis. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy S. Morton. Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the First Baptist Church of Plainfield, 1012 Stafford Road, where friends may call at the church from 4:00 pm until service time at 6:00 pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
