Effie "Chuck" Burke

Effie "Chuck" Burke, age 89, passed away at her home on the evening of August 29, 2026. She was born to William Heckathorne and Marie (Stewart) Heckathorne on March 2, 1937 in Camby, Indiana. Chuck worked as a mechanic for ATA Airlines for several years before retiring. She was a member of the Clayton Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star Mooresville Chapter # 260. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, gardening and spending quality time with her family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobbie Burke; sisters, Wilma Hart, Carolyn Sanders, Margaret Barger and Wanda Sisk; brother, John Heckathorne; sons-in-law, Mark Cosby and Alan Cunningham. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m., where friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow to Clayton Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Melannie (Larry) Kirsch, Bobbie (Sandy) Burke, Donna Cunningham and Bonnie Cosby; sister, Delores Jackson; sister-in-law, Beth Heckathorne; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
