Evan M. Ross

February 3, 1961 — August 21, 2020

Evan M. Ross, 59, of Plainfield, passed away August 21, 2020.  He was born February 3, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN.  He was a 1979 graduate of Owen Valley High School and he received his Associates Degree from ITT Technical Institute.  He was currently working for Rolls-Royce Corporation as an Instrumentation Technician for the past 29 years.  He was a member of the Irvington Presbyterian Church. Evan was a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle.  His friends and family had the comfort of knowing his help was only a phone call away.  He happily worked constantly to keep fixing every broken thing, no matter how much his wife begged him to get a new one.  He loved the challenge of “catching the big one” and would have rather been fishing with his kids and granddaughters than almost anything.  He was the baker of holiday pies and the absolute worst joke-teller ever, which made him the funniest guy on earth.  His lack of ability to tell a joke was only surpassed by his tolerance of his wife and sons who excelled a teasing him for it. While life will continue without his light on this side of Heaven, it will seem little dimmer. Evan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pamela D. (Russell) Ross; two sons, Stephen A. and Andrew W. Ross; a daughter, Ashley N. (Matthew) Howe; his father, Vincent Ross; three brothers, Eric (Patricia), Erle, and Ezra (Sharon) Ross; and a sister, Valerie (Tim) Harrell; and four grandchildren, Kyra, Elyse, and Madelyn Howe and Lydia Ross.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith (Manning) Ross.   Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Funeral services will be private.  Inurnment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.   www.hamptongentry.com
