George Hull Jr.

March 17, 1944 — May 4, 2020

George Russell Hull Jr., 76, of Plainfield, passed away on May 4, 2020.  He was born to Bessie (Owens) and George R. Hull, Sr. on March 17, 1944 in Vansant, Virginia. George was preceded in death by his wife, of 43 years, Sharon Cunningham and their infant son, Timothy. He is survived by his wife, of 10 years, Sarah Hull; daughters, Cindy (Tim) Wright and Christa (Dean) Hollis; son, Russell Yates Hull; step-daughter, Tonja (Gerald) Collins; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 7 sisters. George was a graduate of Van Buren High School in Brazil, Indiana in 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1963-1966 during the Vietnam War on the USS Yorktown Air Craft Carrier. George retired in 2008 from GM Allison's Transmission after 40 years of service.  Where he was a machine setter and a UAW representative for 15 years. He was an active softball player in the Seniors Players Association, winning the Triple Crown in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011 and the Senior World Series in St. George, Utah in 2018. George was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 2016.  He loved spending time with his family.  George enjoyed his 40 acre play place where he would hunt for deer, turkey, mushrooms and cut new trails for the kids to ride their 4 wheelers.  His new passion in life was country line dancing at the 8 seconds saloon.  George attended the Emmanuel Church Garfield Park Campus.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia Cancer Research at LLS.org/donate or favorite charity of your choice.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
