Howard J. Owens

Howard J. Owens, 74, of Plainfield, passed away April 6, 2022.  He was born October 15, 1947 in Chicago, IL.  Howard was a 1965 graduate of Plainfield High School and attended Purdue University. He was a draftsman for Union Carbide and also worked in construction and sales until he retired.  He enjoyed creating delicious meals to share with others, and if he could sneak in something interesting, like octopus, he would. His other hobbies included reading Stephen King and John Grisham novels, playing pool and darts, and watching his Cubs games. Howard also had a love for animals and was known to bring in stray cats or dogs who needed a home.  Howard is survived by two sons, Matt D. (Sarah) Owens and Jason Owens; a daughter, Megan D. Spurgeon; his mother, Delores (Yaley) Anderson; two brothers, Tom and Dennis Tridle; a sister, Diane Tridle; and 6 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Owens and a brother, Keith Tridle.  There will be no calling or services.  Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
