Jack R. Burlison, 95, of Plainfield, passed away on March 21, 2024. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 14, 1928 to the late George H. Burlison and Gladys Burlison. Jack was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He worked for the Indiana State Police for 37 years. At the time of his retirement, he was in charge of the Communications Division. Later, Jack served as a Police Commissoner for the Plainfield Police Department for 23 years. During his career, Former Indiana Governor Dr. Otis Bowen awarded him a "Sagamore of the Wabash". He was a long time member of the Plainfield Christian Church, a past exalted ruler of the Plainfield Elks, a member of Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653 and lastly, a 33rd Degree member of the Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley. Jack is preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Reke Burlison who passed in 1996. Funeral services will be at Plainfield Christian Church ( 800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168) Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 at 12 noon, where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Helen Burlison; sister, Sharon (Harold) Griese; daughters, Janet L. Burlison and Joni (Jim) Blickendorf; step daughter, Judy Pace; step sons, Mike and Jeff Bragg; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
