Jacob Douglas “Jake” Denny, 31, of Danville, Indiana, passed away on August 30, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on March 19, 1992, Jake was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Jake was a resilient man who loved earnestly, forgave easily, and was a stranger to no one. He had a kind and curious nature and his warm personality and genuine interest in others endeared him to many. It would be impossible to sum up his life, his story, or his impact in one note. Jake's educational journey began at Camden Station Elementary and finished at North Oldham County High School. Throughout his life, Jake held various occupations, becoming certified to operate a forklift, working as a Goodwill service assistant, and then onto sales. He approached each job with dedication and enthusiasm, always striving to do his best work. Outside of work, Jake had a passion for cooking, especially for others. He found joy and pride in preparing meals and sharing them with those around him. He absolutely loved to sing and to dance and spent most of his time on walks to appreciate the world around him. He loved all animals and held a special place for his University of Kentucky Wildcats. Jake was preceded in death (maternal) by his grandmother, Patricia M. McDonald; his grandfather, Harvey W. Pedro; and his uncle, Morgan Passwater and (paternal) by his grandmother, Lelia M. Hornback; and brother, Logan A. Denny. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, LaDonna M. Pedro-Miller; father, Jerry R. Denny; grandmother, Wanda Pedro; grandfather, Gary W. Hornback; uncle, Kevin W. Pedro; aunt, Ashley N. Pedro; aunt, Susan M. McDonald; aunt, Robin L. Brewer; uncle, David McDonald; uncle, Paul Passwater; uncle, James L. Denny; aunt, Terry Nimmo; aunt, Tami Herrera; aunt, Tressa M. Erickson; aunt, Mary Bush; sister, Megan M. Prince; sister, Cheyanne C. M. Pedro; step sister, Emilee Weatherred, and numerous extended family members. A funeral service to celebrate Jake's life will be held on Friday, September 8th, 2023, at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home at 106 Shaw Street, Plainfield, IN 46168. The service will begin with a devotion for family members at 3:00 pm, followed by visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The day will conclude with a brief service at 6:00 pm. In honor of Jake's memory, or in lieu of flowers, contributions can also be made to the Brain Injury Association of America (https://www.biausa.org). Donations will help support awareness, research, and treatment of traumatic brain injuries, a cause that held personal significance to Jake. He will forever be remembered for his kind spirit, his love for others, and his genuine interest in the world around him.
