James "Garland" Whitt

James Garland Whitt, 84, of Stilesville, passed away into the arms of Jesus on June 2, 2026.  He was born on March 29, 1942 in Tazewell, VA to the late James "Fuzz" and Mary Whitt.  Garland worked for the railroad and Henry C. Smither Roofing over the years.  He enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search games, gardening and traveling the country with his wife, Peggy.  Garla Ind loved spending time with his family.  He had a real soft spot for his doggy named Elvis.  Garland was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy Whitt; sons, Wayne and Matthew Whitt; brother, Gerald Whitt; sisters, Molly Scott and Judy Morphew.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 6:30 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 3:30 pm until the time of service at 6:30 pm.  Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Williams and Angela Whitt; sisters, Janice Nelson and Carol Jones; grandchildren, Kesha (Mark) Roell, Zachary (Natasha) Williams, Jessica Williams, Chloe (Nick) Gadberry, Christopher (Kelsie) Albertson, Caleb Whitt, Baily Jones, Bradley Jones and Dawson Whitt; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
