Jamie T. Glendy

Jamie Thomas Glendy, age 54, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed from this life in the evening hours of June 22, 2026. He was born in Danville, Indiana, on February 28, 1972, to James T. Glendy and Shirley Kay Allen (Prather.)

Jamie lived a life far longer and more beautiful than many ever expected. Jamie's life was filled with love, joy, family, and simple pleasures that meant everything to him. As a kid, Jamie loved riding on the lawnmower with his grandpa, visiting parks with his little sister and mamal, eating bags of Fritos and splashing in the pool. Jamie loved being with his family, especially when food was involved. Food was one of life’s greatest joys for him. Those who knew him best will fondly remember the quiet hums of pure contentment he made whenever he was savoring a favorite meal.

Jamie also loved taking rides in the car with his mother, Shirley, and stepfather, Perry, and spending time outdoors with the people who loved him. Some of his happiest days were spent boating at Morse Lake, relaxing in the swing in the front yard, riding on the golf cart with his Uncle Jerry and puttering around the driveway in his wheelchair. Jamie had a way of teaching those around him patience, acceptance, compassion, and unconditional love without ever uttering a word.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, James T. Glendy, his grandmother, Virginia Allen and grandfather Thomas Allen.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Prather; stepfather, Perry Prather; uncles, Jerry Allen and Carl Allen Aunt Mary Allen; sister, Brooke Bryant and her husband, Andrew; and his beloved nieces and nephew, Harper, Makena, and Logan.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to IU Hospice and Agape for all the care they gave Jamie and his family in recent times of need.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw Street, Plainfield, Indiana 46168, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
