Jon L. Yoho

Jon L. Yoho was born on 11-30-1937 in Solsberry Indiana to Dr. Robert O. Yoho and I. Jeanette Yoho.

Jon grew up in Speedway Indiana and was a 1955 graduate of Speedway High School. He was a member of the 1955 Speedway sectional basketball championship team, and a member of the 1955 Marion County Baseball championship team.  Jon obtained his undergraduate degree from IU and his graduate degree from Ball State University. 

In 1961 Jon had began teaching at Plainfield Jr/Sr High School and was the head coach for the freshman basketball, football, and baseball teams. Jon was appointed assistant varsity basketball coach at Richmond High School in 1965. During his time at Richmond the varsity basketball team advanced to the semi state 3 out of the 4 years that he was a member of the coaching staff. In 1969 Jon was appointed the head varsity basketball coach at Plainfield High School and led the Quakers to two sectional championships. After teaching and coaching, Jon served as a member of the Plainfield Community School board from 1981-1989 and began his own insurance business before retiring in 2005.

Jon is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Judith (White) Yoho. He is also survived by his four children, Kelly Aldridge, Vicki Grant (Danny deceased), Robert (Teanna), Todd (Randi), 9 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren, Brother Mike (Maria). He is proceeded in death by his sister Roberta.

In his spare time Jon enjoyed all sports and watching his grandchildren participate in athletics.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Solsberry Masonic Lodge #411 (10707 East St Rd 65 Bloomfield, In 47424).
