Larry W. Hanlon

Larry Wayne Hanlon, 67, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away on September 25th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, deep love for his family, and the successful homestead farm he established in fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

In addition to his love of the outdoors and raising livestock, Larry was a music historian who especially enjoyed rock music and talented guitarists and would frequently take weekend trips with his wife to see their favorite artists. He was a talented hunter who particularly enjoyed hunting with his son-in-law and grandson.

While he valued solitude and the quiet beauty of his farm, those closest to him knew that he possessed a sharp sense of humor, he was famous for witty one-liners, and he expressed love through his actions and generosity. He was lucky to have a special relationship with his grandson, making frequent trips to Indianapolis for sporting events.

Larry was a 1977 graduate of Plainfield High School. Larry applied his sharp problem-solving skills throughout his career, most recently as a Production Manager for CountryMark and Brothers Oil & Iron.

Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Tawny (Stewart) Hanlon; daughter Kelsey Hanlon-Brokamp, son-in-law Nolan Brokamp, and grandson Amos Hanlon Brokamp; son Kevin Hanlon and daughter-in-law Audrey Wessel; and his parents, Richard “Dick” Hanlon and Janet Murphy.

He is also survived by sister, Linda (David) Issen, a niece and nephew, aunts, uncles, and many cousins, including his close friend and cousin Mike “Buster” Murphy.

Larry’s family sincerely thanks his friends, co-workers, and neighbors for their help with Larry’s homestead since his passing.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., and a Celebration of Life ceremony at 3 p.m. all at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield, IN on Saturday October 10th, 2026.
