Larry L. Mitchell

May 1, 1940 — November 4, 2020

Larry Mitchell, 80, of Cloverdale, formerly of Plainfield, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2020 at his home and into the loving arms of Jesus. He was born on May 1, 1940 in Pleasantville, IN to the late Roy and Chloa Mitchell.  Larry was a lineman for Indianapolis Power & Light for over 39 years, retiring in May of 2000. He belonged to the Eminence Baptist Church and the IBEW #1395.  Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, baking and bee keeping in his free time.  He was an avid Indiana University fan. What Larry loved most was spending time with his loving family whenever he could.  His wife, his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He was proud of the life he and Mary built.  Larry was never shy about letting any and everyone know how proud he was of his family.  Larry knew how good God had been to him. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby, Virgil, Bill, Everett and Judy Mitchell, Anna Marie Earle and Doris Suttles.  Due to Covid-19 the Visitation and Funeral Services will be private at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Mannan Cemetery, Quincy, IN.  Due to the Covid-19 virus we ask that those who plan to attend to wear a mask and social distance. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Mitchell; his children, daughter, Jennie (Jeff) Coats of Carlisle, IN; sons, Lonnie Mitchell of Cloverdale, IN and Randall (Tracy) Mitchell of North Salem, IN; siblings, Dorothy Bruce, of Terre Haute, IN, John (Sandra) of Danville, IN, Roy Jr. "Booner" (Jeanie) Mitchell of Linton, IN and Carol Butler of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Melissa (Curtis) Ridgway of Carlisle, IN, Michael (Rachel) Coats of Greenwood, IN, Ben (Hannah) Mitchell of Rockville, IN, Megan Marie (Ryan) Drew of Carmel, IN, Megan Lynn (Kyle) Flatley of Westfield, IN, Ethan (Trenna) Mitchell of New Paris, IN, Morgan (AJ) Hopkins of Danville, IN and his Army Soldier, Tyler Mitchell serving in Kuwait at this time; 13 great grandchildren with 2 on the way and too many to count, special brother, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
