Leona J. Case

Leona J. Case 91, Plainfield, died peacefully on May 3,2022.  She was born in Indianapolis July 4, 1930, daughter of Sybil & Robert Denny.  Leona spent her early years in Cloverdale, IN where she graduated Cloverdale High School in 1948.  She lived her adult life in Plainfield where she & David Case raised their four children.  Leona graduated St. Vincent Nursing Program in 1951. She worked for Drs’. Johnston & Cohen in Plainfield.  She went onto to work most of her career at Richard Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital, Indianapolis.  Leona worked on the Psychiatry unit for over 30 years.  One of her accomplishments while at the V.A. was initiating the Pet Therapy Program for the Roudebush V.A. patients. The Pet Therapy program provided Leona the opportunity to help others heal through the power of pets. She received a V.A. commendation for her pet therapy work.  After retiring from nursing Leona worked for several years providing pet sitting services in pet owners’ homes.  Leona was a long-time member of St. Susanna Catholic Church.  Members of the extended Case family were charter members of the parish.  Leona was active with the Bereavement Committee.  Leona was preceded in death by her former husband David Eugene Case, her parents and siblings, and daughter Julia A. Case.  Leona is survived by her children Judith (Stephen) Koslofsky, Joseph Case, Jennifer (Steven) Tardiff.  Grandchildren Alexis, Klaire & Keeler, and great granddaughter Adaline.  The Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday May 17, 2022, at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home 106 Shaw St., Plainfield, where friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm.  After the funeral service the family will greet friends for a reception at CRG Event Center 2499 Perry Crossing Way Suite 205, 4:00.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gathering Together hospice care or the Hendricks County Humane Society.
