Lois Ann Perko, 94 of Plainfield, IN died peacefully the afternoon of July 1, She had been healthy and active, living independently until a recent fall that occurred during Easter weekend in April. Lois was born in Sheboygan, WI on August 28, 1927, to the late Frederick and Anita (Marold) Blanke. She married her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard Perko on December 9, 1950 in Shorewood, WI. He preceded her in death in 2012. Lois was an active member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Avon, IN. Over her 60+ years in Plainfield, she was active in numerous groups including bowling leagues at the Plainfield Bowl, summer golf leagues, and, of course, playing bridge with multiple groups of friends. Lois was an avid sports fan who loved watching her Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, and Purdue Boilermakers as well as golf each week. Upon becoming “empty nesters”, Richard and Lois made extensive use of their Ambassadair Travel Club membership in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They were ardent world travelers and instilled a curiosity of international travel in their family. Lois’ greatest treasure was her faith in Jesus Christ. Her Bible and “Portals of Prayer” devotional were always as close as her TV remote control and she began each day with a devotion, setting an example for her family. She was devoted to her family, whether it was baking or making delicious holiday dinners or attending the grandchildren’s soccer, football and softball games. Lois is survived by her children: Greg R. (Lou Ann) Perko, Longmont, CO and Nancy J. (William) Bussing, Carmel, IN. She is also survived by grandchildren Sandy Perko, Aurora, CO, John (Megan) Perko, Castle Rock, CO, and Erich (Tara) Bussing, Dobbs Ferry, NY. Her beloved great-grand-daughters Layne Ellen Perko and Josephine Louise Bussing also survive. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Richard Perko and her brothers, Frederick Blanke Jr. and Dennis Blanke. A memorial service celebrating Lois’ baptism, life and eternal life will be held Wednesday, August 3rd at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9201 E. County Road 100 N, Avon, IN 46123 at 11:00 am. Rev. Matt Douglas will officiate. Friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School. Interment will be private at Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hampton -Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
