Louis "Fred" Meyer Jr., 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully and was surrounded by loving family members on October 29, 2025. He was born on May 5, 1945 to the late Louis F. Meyer Sr. and Rose Meyer. Fred was a Director at Naval Avionics with Raytheon before retiring. He was a Notre Dame Alumni and went to at least one Notre Dame Football Game every season for the last 65 years always sharing it was “more than a game.” He loved spending time with his family and family weekends at the lake. Fred loved an opportunity to travel near and far; and getting lost was his favorite adventure. A father of four and father figure to countless more. He was preceded in death by his brother, Creighton Meyer. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield where all may visit from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by service. Survivors include his loving wife, Val Meyer; daughter, Christina (Tom) Geibel; sons, Anthony (Lisa), Timothy, and Tracy (Kat) Meyer; sister, Marilyn McGuire; and 8 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Seeds of Hope co-founded by Father Glenn O’Connor. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date near Raccoon Lake.
