Marjorie Long

Marjorie Long, 98, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by many of her loved ones on August 8, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1927 in Plainfield to the late George and Laura Bayliff. Marjorie was a homemaker and also taught kindergarten at the Plainfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and doing her morning puzzles. Marjorie was an avid IU sports fan. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild. Marjorie belonged to the Vertical Church in Plainfield. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell Long; son, Richard "Rick" Long; seven brothers and one sister. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her daughter, Becky VanWanzeele; son, Randy Long; daughter in law, Connie Long; 4 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
