Marjorie Lois (Edmondson) Welker, 102, of Plainfield, passed away March 10, 2020. She was born July 18, 1917 in Clayton, In to the late Chauncey and Carrie Edmondson. Marge graduated from Clayton High School in 1936. She was a homemaker. After her children were raised, she worked as a secretary and supervisor in the dental division for the Indiana State Board of Health retiring in 1983 after 18 years. Her memberships include Plainfield Womans Club, Plainfield Order of Eastern Star #414 and she was a past treasurer for the Plainfield Lions Club. She met her late husband, Edger Welker during WWII as a serviceman's cadet at the YMCA in Indianapolis. She was well known for her shoe collection programs on "God's Walking Shoes" and her hat collection programs on "Hats on Parade -Treasures of the Past". Marge also wrote a children's book, titled Winky's Wonderful World of Shoes. It was published in 2001. She was also a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church (600 Simmons St) where funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, at 1:00 pm. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 am until time of service. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Edmondson. Survivors include her sons, Charles E. (Sun Cha), Gary E. and William G. Welker; daughter, Karen B. (Gary) Wagler; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the music department of the church.
