Mary Frances Hayes

Mary Frances Hayes, age 87, of Plainfield, passed away on May 3, 2026. She was born on July 30, 1938 in Oak Park, Illinois.  Mary Frances spent her early years through high school growing up in the Chicago area. One thing that she looked back on very fondly and talked about during high school was her part-time and summer work at Toffanetti Restaurants and working as a nurse’s aide at Garfield Park Community Hospital.

After graduating from Providence High School in 1956, she attended and graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School for Nursing in Lafayette, Indiana.

After marriage and raising children, she worked in various roles at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for 24 years before retiring.

In her leisure time and after retirement she enjoyed traveling to new places, reading, gardening, and working with different groups including Friends of the Library and Methodist Hospital Task Core.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church on Friday, May 8, 2026 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow to St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Winamac, Indiana.

She is survived by her sister Catherine, two sons Jeffrey (Paige) and Christopher (Tina) and her four grandchildren Chandler, Darby, Alexander, and Adam.
