Oakley R. Blevins

Oakley R. Blevins, 90, of Plainfield, passed away February 27, 2022.  He was born August 7, 1931 to the late Sylvester and Elva (Smith) Blevins in Oneida, TN.  He worked as an assembler for Ford Motor Co. for 38 years retiring in 1997.  He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church.  Oakley enjoyed watching NASCAR races, vacationing in Florida, watching Fox News, spending many hours shopping at Menards, and most of all spending time with his family. There is not a thing he wouldn't do for anyone at any time, friend or stranger. He could talk to anyone about anything and once he loved you, he loved you for life. He was a self taught man and had a strong work ethic. He loved fixing and building things, never using or needing directions or blueprints. He was patient, loving, giving to a fault, and was so full of kindness. He had a smile that reached his eyes. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. He was loyal, honest, and always put everyone before himself.  He was strong and fearless. He was one of a kind and he was loved so deeply by so many.  Oakley is survived by his wife, Cheryl B. (Klave) Blevins; two daughters, Diane O. Rackmil and Amber M. Weyrich; a brother, Robert (Ann) Blevins; a sister, Zora Winchester; 5 grandchildren and a great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Blevins.  Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at 3:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to either the Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
