Patricia A. "Patty" Crouse

May 14, 1944 — June 5, 2021

Patricia A  Crouse,   77  years  young, of Coatesville, passed away Saturday, June 5 in the presence of her loving family. She was the daughter of J. Richard and Nanette Rose Hiner.  She grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana with her brother and two sisters.  She is the mother of 2 daughters, Michelle (Chris) Mickle and Annie (Russell) Brock; 8 sons, Michael (Trina), Greg, Kevin (Sheila), Steve, David (Susie), and Jeff (Sarah) Johnson, and Mark (Holly) and Daniel Trump; two sisters, Nan Hiner (Monty) Blizard and Kathy (Larry) Borgerding; 28 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.  For the past thirty years she has been married to Michael L Crouse fondly known as Pappy.  Patty did not squander her days and lived life to the fullest.  She was a woman of faith, lived a Christ-centered life and had the ability to give unconditional love.  She had an amazing zeal for life and an adventurous spirit.  She was always game to try something new or head out on an expedition whether that be down the Vandalia trail near her home or somewhere distant.  Her travels spanned the globe.  Castles of Ireland, picturesque New Zealand, Mexico, Bahamas, or her beloved French Lick/West Baden Resort.  Patty loved nature and to nurture whether it be tending to her garden, her bird feeders or volunteering at McCloud Nature Park. She always had several dogs lovingly at her side throughout her life.  Her personality could be compared to that of a Hummingbird: vibrant, zippy and loved to eat.   She loved to read and became savvy on some stock picks in the past few years.  In the past decade, she found her artistic flare in watercolors.  Gifting pieces to family members and donating pieces to charitable causes to be auctioned.  Signing her masterpieces, PA Hiner.   Patty always put family first.  She was always available and present.  She had the ability to make each person feel loved and important.  She was quirky, fun loving and a joy to be around.  While her life had some struggles along the way, she always showed gratitude.  One of her most favorite ways to express it, was to sing the last score  from  the  movie  Scrooge,  starring  Albert Finney, “…thank you very, thank you very much, that’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me”.   Patty was so many things:  Sister, Wife, Mother Extraordinaire, Grandma/Mammy, Adventurer, Artist P.A. Hiner, Self-taught Nurse/Practicing Physician (google really upped her skills), Therapist, Life Coach.  She was also referred to as Queen Bee, Peppermint Patty, Mike’s Boss, Commander in Chief, Monarch to the Masses.   One of Patty’s favorite movie lines that she would frequently quip, “It all goes by in a blink.”  Patty believed that and lived her life to the fullest, even up to her very last hours.  She loved to celebrate the holidays and especially her birthday.  We welcome all who can join us and help celebrate a life well lived.
