Rachel I. Petree

Rachel Petree, age 83, of Danville, passed away on February 3, 2026. She was born on September 26, 1942 in Mars Hill, Indiana to the late Arthur H. Smith and Madge (Tony) Smith. Rachel worked in the administration office at Golden Rule Nursing Home in Danville and Vinewood Nursing Home in Plainfield. She was a member of the Danville Calvary Church of the Nazarene and the Hendricks County Senior Center. Rachel enjoyed reading in her spare time and attended various sporting events her grandchildren participated in. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Petree; brother, Arnold A. Smith; sister, Mildred C. Gill. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m., where family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow to Clayton Cemetery. Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Rodriguez, Kathe (Mike) Moore and Mary Lou Asher; brothers, Kenneth E. Smith and Howard H. Smith; six grandchildren, Amanda (Greg) Ramsey, April Rodriguez, Austin (Becka) Rodriguez, Tyler (Ashley) Moore, Tiffany (Stephen) Moore and Ian (Savannah) Asher; 15 great grandchildren.
