Richard Allen Gibbs

April 19, 1959 — April 23, 2026

Deputy

Allen Gibbs, 67, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2026. He was born on April 19, 1959 in Paris, IL to the late Francis Willard and Ellajean Harlan Gibbs. Allen attended Opportunity Cottage located in Danville and West Central School in Bridgeport where Allen enjoyed learning. Allen was a big help to his father and mother, and in their later years he was their major caregiver. Allen loved Indiana University basketball and football and was a big Colts fan. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and teaser.

Allen was born with one extra chromosome, but with that Allen also received an extra measure of joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and the greatest of these was the ability to love. Allen is survived by his siblings: Francy Daum, Diana (Dale) Barkley, Judy Tallent, Jay (Cynda) Gibbs, Terry (Leon) Wright and Dennis (Janet) Gibbs and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, with a celebration of life service immediately following. Committal services will follow to Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Hendricks County Parks & Recreation Department (4481 Gibbs Rd. Plainfield, IN 46168) specifically made for the W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park.
