Robert L. Christian

Robert L. Christian, 80, of Greencastle, passed peacefully away September 3, 2017 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by his  family.  He was born April 6, 1937 to the late Charles and Frances (Sparks) Christian in Tazewell County, VA.  He worked 30 years for Union Carbide retiring as a service technician in 1985.  Bob is survived by his loving wife Connie A. (Newlin) Christian.  They shared 52 years of marriage.  He is also survived by 4 daughters, Debbie (Roger) Block, Kathy (Bob) Whitaker, Julie (Brian) Wagoner, and Patty Blakley; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, along with countless friends and family.   He was preceded in death by a his siblings, Jo Ruth, Dave, Russell (Jr), and Jesse.  In addition to his devotion to his family, Bob enjoyed ginseng and mushroom hunting, fishing and reading.  He (Dad/Papaw) will be remembered for his sense of humor his unwavering love for his wife and family.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Plainfield.  Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Condolences may be sent to www.hamptongentry.com
