Robert Lee Painter, 79, of Plainfield, IN passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 17th, 2020. He was born in Paxton, IL in 1940 to Carl and Zara Painter. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Plainfield. Bob worked in construction for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, spending time with his family and friends, and serving The Lord. He also coached boys baseball and girls softball for 15 years and was lovingly called “Bubba” by the girls on his softball team. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy (Robertson) Painter; children John Painter, Janice (Stone) Pilkenton, Jerry (Michelle) Painter, and Jolynn (Keith) Weaver; grandchildren Jessica Harris, Heather Ellenburg, Adam Hedrick, Jeffrey Painter, Cameron Weaver, Justin Painter, Morgan Painter, and Leland Painter, 13 great grandchildren; a brother Kenneth (Ruth) Painter, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Zara, sisters Ethel Bennett, Doris Proctor, and Eva Powell; brothers John Painter and Charles Painter. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church (1012 Stafford Road) in Plainfield, IN on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 4:00 pm. Visitation will also be at the church from 1:00 to 3:45 pm. Arrangements are being made by Hampton Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield, IN.
