Robert S. "Steve" Woodall

November 8, 1940 — September 21, 2022

Robert “Steve” S. Woodall, 81 of Clayton, Indiana passed away quietly on September 21, 2022 at his home in Belleville, Indiana.  He was born November 8, 1940 to Dora H. (Morgan) Todd and William “Sim” S. Woodall in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Steve grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1959.  He spent most summers and holidays on the family farm in Greencastle, Indiana with his aunt and uncle, James and Bernadine Woodall, and his cousins.  Steve shared many wonderful memories with his family in Greencastle and looked upon them as his second family. He began working after school as a “Soda Jerk” and stock boy at Henderson’s Drug Store and later running prints and delivering drawings in the engineering area at Link Belt before starting his career as a “body” man with H & R Garage.  He finished his career with American Trans Air (ATA) where he worked in the composite bond shop repairing airplane components until his retirement.

Steve married Sue C. (Wasson) Woodall in 1962 and raised 2 sons, Tracy and Jeff.  Steve and Sue were married for 41 years before Sue’s death in 2004.  Steve later reunited with his high school sweetheart, Judith “Judy” (Foxworthy) Woodall, with whom he spent 18 years sharing many old and new memories and exploring new places.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Todd, father Sim Woodall, and wife, Sue Woodall.  He is survived by wife Judy Woodall, children Tracy (Angie) Woodall, Jeffery (Michelle) Woodall and 6 grandchildren, Zachery (Katie) Woodall, Allison Woodall, Michael Woodall, Trevor Woodall, Johnathan McKay and Carl McKay.

Steve will be remembered for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, commitment to family and always being “a little better than perfect.”  He will be missed by so many.

A celebration of life will be held with family and friends at a later date.

Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
