Roy Edward Oliver

Roy Edward Oliver, 75, of Plainfield,  passed away on Friday evening, May 3, 2019, from heart, kidney and lung disease. Roy was born on August 11, 1943 to Dow & Millerdene Oliver in Eddyville, KY. He is survived by one sister, Virginia Bloomingburg of Benton, KY and one brother, Richard (Donna) Oliver of Jacksonbville, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Oliver. He married Pat (Wingler) Oliver on August 1, 1970. Together they had 2 daughters, Kristy (Ed) Estes and Kerry (Chris) Creek and 4 grandchildren, Bethany Estes, Levi Creek, Sarah (Eric) Sugrue and Kaitlyn Estes.  Roy graduated from Lyon County High School in Eddyville, KY in 1962. After graduation he joined the rodeo circuit with the Loretta Lynn Rodeo specializing in bull riding. He participated locally in the Clermont Rodeo. He eventually began driving for various trucking companies and ending his trucking career with Bob Daum Trucking in 2006.  His hobbies consisted of hunting, fishing, gardening and most recently working with 4-H goats on the farms of beloved friends, Norman Smith and Mark Lewis.  The family would like to thank Plainfield Health Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care for him over the last year and a half.  Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019  from 4:00 to 8: 00 pm at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, May 9, at 11:00 am in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Contributions may be made to Christ Church, 550 St. Luke Dr., Plainfield, IN 46168.
