Ruth Anne Bowen

November 9, 1931 — March 18, 2026

Plainfield

Ruth Anne (Marley) Bowen passed peacefully from this life on March 18, 2026 the age of 94. Born in Indianapolis on November 9, 1931 to the late Elza R. Marley and Ruth Wheeler Marley, she grew up in Coatesville IN. She graduated from Amo High School in 1949. On September 15, 1950 she married her eternal love, Noble L. Bowen. Together they raised a family and created a loving home to five grateful children. They spent nearly 40 years in Stilesville before retiring to Plainfield in 2008.

Ruth Anne is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Noble, grandson Andrew and son in law Don. She is survived by her children, Richard Bowen, Randle Bowen, Patricia (Don) Hutton, Pamela (Richard) Blackard and Sandra Bowen, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

Caregiver was Ruth Anne’s most important role in life. As an only child she did not want that for her family, so she had five children which she made her priority. She was a den mother, sewer of dance costumes, expert camper, speed boat driver, bridge player, square dancer, and always there to meet her children after school. Ruth Anne continued that nurturing to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. After the loss of her father, Pard, she provided a home and loving care for her dear mother, Ruth. Her most important care giving role was to her beloved husband, Noble who passed away in 2009.

Ruth Anne had many other passions which included gardening and volunteering at her church, most importantly singing in the church choir, helping with meals to the homeless and volunteering with the Stephen Ministries. She was an expert arranger of furniture. Most importantly, she loved her family, God, and truly believed in the philosophy of love one another and “just be kind.” She will be greatly missed.
