Steven “Steve” E. Trent, age 81, of Coatesville, passed away at his home on February 28, 2026. He was born to Bernard Trent and Mary Ellen (Wright) Trent on February 6, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Steve served his country and Corps as a United States Marine. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds received in Vietnam. Steve was honorably discharged after 6 years of duty. In his civilian pursuits, Steve carried the values of honor and service throughout his life.

Steve began his career in the Trade-show Industry as the GM of The Geo. E Fern company for 40 years. He was a part of an elite group of individuals who helped create and build the Convention business in Indianapolis. He began a second career as the GM of Markey’s Exposition Services where he continued to create and build new business in the industry . Throughout his entire career Steve was respected and a mentor to so many individuals in the Trade-show,Convention, annd Hospitality industry. The relationships and friendships he built with his employees and clients was remarkable.

Steve was a former member of the Plainfield Christian Church. He was also a member of the The American Legion Colonel Billie J. Holmes Memorial Post 331 in Brownsburg IN.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed the quiet of the woods during deer season, the sport of fishing, cruising the lake on his boat, or playing a round of golf. A student of geology in college, Steve carried this interests throughout his life. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren., Steve cherished his private time with his beloved wife Bonnie of 26 years.

Steve created his own kind of sanctuary on his property at Heritage Lake, where he immersed himself in any project that kept him moving. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Trent; brother, Brad Trent; sister, Melynda Trent; daughter, Tina Wright. Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie Trent; mother, Mary Ellen Trent; daughter, Debbie Kuntz; son, Steven M. Trent; daughter, Natalie Bush-Trent; brothers, Robert and William Trent; sisters, Shirli and Kathy Trent; grandchildren, Michael S. Trent, Sara (Josh) Conley, Isaiah (Maureen) Thompson, Kevin (Samantha) Coy, Hailey Kuntz, Aaron (Katie) Holmes, Charles (Macy) Mackenzie, Willow Bush, 14 great-grandchildren, two nieces ( Tori Trent and Hope Trent) and five great-nieces. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Plainfield Christian Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow to Maple Hill Cemetery.
