Theresa A. Bernhardt

Theresa A. Bernhardt, 63, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at home.  She was born January 6, 1957 to the late William and Mary (Burke) Arnold in Indianapolis, IN.  She was a homemaker.  She is survived by her husband Mark Bernhardt, whom she married shortly after graduating from high school.  To say she was a babysitter, dogsitter, and homemaker would be a great injustice to the impact that she had on everyone. She had a special and unique gift with children that she utilized up until the end. Nearly every grandchild, niece, nephew,  grandniece, and grandnephew insisted on visiting her to bake cookies, garden, and play games. Her absence will leave a void that simply cannot be filled.  Her interests included sewing, quilting, Candy Crush, gardening, cooking, baking, hosting and spending as much time with loved ones as possible.  Besides her husband Mark she is also survived by her children, Mark (Alisha) Bernhardt II and Brad (Colleen) Bernhardt;  and her grandchildren: Brooke, Travis and soon-to-be-born granddaughter Shiloh; and her siblings Mike (Cindy) Arnold, Jean (Terry) Ratliff, Jane (Stewart) Brooke,  and Terry (Leon) Blume. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Arnold, and her brothers Billy and David Arnold.  Visitation will be from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Services will be private.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
