Viola M. Stilwell

Viola M. Stilwell, 91, of Plainfield, passed away November 24, 2018.  She was born July 29, 1927 to the late Jesse Carl and Cecilia (Hoffman) Cox in Dubois County, IN.  She was a girl scout leader, and was involved in many bridge clubs.  She also worked as a seamstress for many years.  She was an office worker for Plainfield High School for 10 years retiring in 1978.  She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  Viola is survived by her husband, Robert Alan Stilwell;  a son, Steve A. (wife Jan Arnold) Stilwell; a daughter, Sandy L. (husband Dave Rickard) Stilwell-Rickard; a sister, Margaret Garrett; 4 grandchildren, Carrie (Ryan) Mears, Susan (Doug) Gommel, Brandy (Andy) Miller, and Ben (Ali) Petty; and 16 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Cox Jr., and a sister, Virginia Farris.  Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield and where friends may call on Saturday, from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 noon.  A private burial will take place at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Memorial contributions may be made to Plainfield United Methodist Church.
