William August Burkett

July 7, 1939 — December 19, 2021

William "Bill" August Burkett born July 7, 1939 who was proudly born and raised in Wyandotte, Michigan passed away in Plainfield, IN on December 19, 2021 after battling Alzheimer's. He passed with his loving wife of over 60 years, Carole (Kenney) Burkett by his side.  Bill proudly served for six years in the U.S. Army ending as a Sergeant, but his humility would never let you know that.  He is survived by his beloved daughters, Toni (Burkett) Moore of (Sarasota, Fl) and Charlene Burkett of (Plainfield, IN) and three grandchildren, Sophia and Austin Moore (Toni) and Gabrielle Waltz (Charlene). He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Burkett, mother, Zelpha Anastasia (Schwartz) Burkett, sister, Eunice (Laframboise) and brother, Curt.  Bill will always be remembered for knowing no stranger, attributed to his barber business he owned for years in Allen Park where he spent a good portion of his life and where he raised his daughters.  He dearly loved Northern Michigan and made many memories with his daughters, friends and family there on Little Bear Lake, Johannesburg.  After serving Ford Motor Co. faithfully for over 35 years, he lived his dream in retirement in Northern Michigan.  He was loved by all who came to know him and his laughter and light hearted nature will always be missed.  A Celebration Of Life Ceremony will be held at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield, IN on December 23, 2021 at 5 p.m. with wake in advance from 3-5 p.m. The service will be live streamed for those who would like to attend virtually.
