William (Bill) Evan Furman, age 91, of Plainfield, Indiana passed into eternity on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Bill was born in Martin, South Dakota in 1935. He graduated from Stilesville, Indiana High School and obtained a BS degree from Butler University in Indianapolis. He enjoyed a 32-year career at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, working in various areas including Manufacturing Planning and Control, Sales and Sales Forecasting, and Transportation Vehicle Management. Bill was firmly grounded in his love of family, faith, and country. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Trent) Furman and son Chris Carr. He is survived by wife, Linda Marley-Furman, sons, Greg (Michele) Carr, Randy (Carol) Carr, Danny (Theresa) Carr, Jeff (Lesa) Furman, and daughter, Donna (LeRoy) LeNarz, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Bill was a longtime member of Plainfield Christian Church, Plainfield, Indiana. He was a talented bible study and Sunday School teacher for over 35 years. He had a passion for missionary work traveling to Ukraine and Austria and serving on the Board of Trustees of Tavriski Christian Institution Kherson for 6 years. Bill entered military service as an Airman Basic in 1953, before the Korean War ended. He retired from active duty as Major in the Air National Guard in 1975, but remained in the reserves another 20 years. Never staying idle in retirement, Bill had several hobbies such as flying Radio Controlled airplanes, authoring four books, and participating on his Homeowners Association Board of Directors. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, at Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN) from 11 am -1pm, followed by the funeral at 1pm, then Interment with Military Honors at Maple Hill Cemetery. Bill was extremely charitable and would appreciate memorial donations in his honor be directed to Plainfield Christian Church or a church or charity of your choosing.
