William L. Hammer

William L. Hammer, 88, of Plainfield, passed away on March 7, 2018.  He was born in Camby, IN on August 18, 1929 to the late Chester and Mary (Randal) Hammer.  William was an United States Army veteran.  He was a locksmith for the Indianapolis School Board.  William was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles #3207.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved visiting Colorado.  William was preceded in death by brothers, Chester Jr. and Bud Hammer; sister, Lois Williams.  Funeral services will be Friday, March 9, 2018 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home at 12:00 pm (noon) where friends may call on Thursday, March 8, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Burial will be in the North Branch Cemetery.  Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hammer; daughter, Glenda (Rodrick) Mahan; son, Ralph (Sherry) Hammer; brothers, Don and Gene Hammer; sister, Bertha Leak and Norma Held; grandchildren, Crystal, Shawn, Dawn and Melissa; great grandchildren, Jami, Shae-Lynn, Wiley, Brady, Natalie, Mason and Gunner; great great grandchild, Caleb.
