William "Willie" Basford

William S. Basford, 66, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members on August 25, 2026.  He was born on March 18, 1960 in Richmond, IN to the late William R. and LaDonna Basford.  Willie was a United State Marine Corps veteran.  He was a warehouse worker before starting his own landscaping business.  Willie enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing and recently got into martial arts in his free time.  He loved spending time with his family.  Willie was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Basford.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Basford; daughters, Lela (Cody) Walk and Marie (David Fisher) Basford; step daughter, Shannon Wagoner; grandchildren, Shaun Rickelman, Olivia Rickelman, Baylee Basford and Gavin Clark.
