Yvonne A. Hill, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members on February 6, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1937, in Brazil, Indiana to the late Edward and Anna Mary Powell. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1955 with her best friends Mary Lou (Petey) and Janice Sawyers Fellows. Yvonne was an accomplished and passionate dancer. After a professional dancing career in Chicago, she served as the owner and operator of ‘Yvonne's School Of Dance’ for 20+ years. Her love for dance ran so deep she often dreamed of becoming a member of 'The Radio City Rockettes', speaking about them with an infectious joy. In addition to her work at the studio, Yvonne was a beloved choreographer of all musicals at Lincoln Trail College. Along with her fervor for dance, Yvonne held a deep passion for God. She was an avid member of ‘Eastside Christian Church’ in Brazil for 15 years before later joining ‘Christ Church’ in Plainfield. Yvonne took great pleasure in assisting Brazil’s biblical periodical, Herald of His Coming, dedicating her spare time to meaningful service. Some of her happiest daily moments were spent reading Our Daily Bread devotionals. Yvonne was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, proudly flying the Cubs Win Flag outside her window after every win, and regularly cheering on her favorite first baseman–Anthony Rizzo. She loved to be outdoors, finding comfort in the fresh air and sunshine whenever she could. Yvonne was her kids and grand kids biggest supporters, cheering them on in all their favorite hobbies, even if that meant being at a softball game or having a long and heartfelt conversation on the phone. Time with her family was especially important to Yvonne, whether that meant a fun meal together or a competitive game of SKIP-BO. Each day, she tuned in to Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, with Frank Sinatra always serving as her go to musician in the background. Her favorite snacks were simple and sweet, be it Twinkies or cereal with a scoop of ice cream. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her hair stylist, Rhonda Adams, for cutting her hair in her home. Yvonne always felt like a million bucks after getting trimmed up. Yvonne was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Elesa Wright. Survivors include her children, Hank Hill and Angela Rowan; sister, Sondra Davis; brother, Tom Powell; and 5 grandchildren, Jordan Wright (wife Deanna), Nicholas Rowan, Michael Rowan, Elizabeth Rowan (husband Harrison), and Emily Rowan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Christ Church ( 550 St. Luke Dr. Plainfield, IN 46168) starting at 3:00 p.m., where family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until time of services.
