Lloyd L. McDaniel

August 13, 1923 — April 11, 2021

Lloyd L. McDaniel, 97, of Plainfield, passed away on April 11, 2021 surrounded by loving family members.  He was born on August 13, 1923 in Monrovia, IN to the late Everett and Mary McDaniel.  Lloyd was an United States Marine veteran serving in WWII and the Korean War.  He retired in 1985 after 37 1/2 years from the Plainfield Post Office retiring as Postmaster.  Lloyd also retired in 2001 after 50 plus years from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as an assistant supervisor of infield traffic.  He belonged to the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  Lloyd was a member of the Plainfield Lions Club, American Legion #329, Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653, Scottish Rite, 500 Oldtimers Club and retired Postmasters Club.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna McDaniel; brothers, Ralph, Raymond, William and Robert McDaniel; half brothers, Everett Jr. and Tom McDaniel; half sisters, Louise and Jeanine McDaniel.  Graveside services will be private in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his sons, Dr. Douglas (Paula) and Thomas McDaniel; daughter, Mary Margaret Baskin; half brother, Chuck McDaniel; half sisters, Patty Wray and Beverly Whitt, foster sister, Louise Disney; nephew, Dan and Linda McDaniel; special friends, Paula & Steve Gilmore; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Plainfield Lions Club or the American Legion #329.
